Seabed sediments as an archive of climate change

Surely you know that our climate has changed throughout the history of the Earth, but … do you know why it changes? How do we know that it has changed? Where are climate changes recorded? Did you know that marine sediments are like a book in the history of the Earth? Knowing and understanding the current climate system requires knowing what the climate was like in the past and understanding the cyclicality of the climate. However, in the past no measurements could be made direct temperature, precipitation, etc. So what do we do to know climate change in the past? We use indirect indicators and study climatic files such as ice or sediments, which have recorded the climate of the past.
